Self-placed Exam: It costs $500 and provides 12 months access to all exam resources and interactive modules with written content and videos to help candidates pass their FOCP exam.

Virtual instructor-led course: It cost around $1500. In addition to the services mentioned in the self-placed course it also provides a 10 hours instructor led workshop and small class sizes to increase interactivity with the expert.

Exam only: The FOCP exam itself costs $325 and candidates have to pass the exam within 12 months without any course. Most beneficial for those already familiar with the syllabi.

The FOCP certification will stay valid for 24 months after passing the exam.

2) FinOps Certified platform Engineer (FOCPE)

As the name suggests, FOCPE is for engineers who design, develop, and manage cloud infrastructure. This course helps engineers in working with FOCP practitioners to shift focuses from the cost of running cloud operations to value of cloud investment to the business.

FOCPE course details:

The course provided by FinOps Foundation allows 12-month modules with video and written content access. And candidates must pass the exam within this timeframe with a maximum of 3 retakes.

  • The FinOps certified Platform Engineer certificate stays valid for 24 months after passing the exam.
  • Approximate time to complete is 10 hours.

3) FinOps certified professional (FCP)

FCP is one of the more advanced exams as it is designed for FinOps practitioners who want more in-depth knowledge and professional career development. 

Candidates with work with other practitioners to face real business challenges with real experts. Candidates will also gain the skills needed to accelerate their career in FinOps and drive a positive return on cloud investment at their organization.

FCP course details:

Candidates will be given 12 month access to interactive training modules and a slack community channel with other candidates taking the same exam. The course itself is a hybrid of self-paced lessons and virtual instructor-led classes.

  • The course costs $1999 USD.
  • Additional requirements include, Learners must hold an active FinOps Certified FOCUS Analyst certificate prior to taking the FinOps Certified Professional exam.
  • Approximate time to complete is 40-50 hours of work.
  • The FinOps certified professional certificate stays valid for 36 months after passing the exam.

The FinOps foundatio offers a bundled package for candidates interested in the FinOps Certified Professional that also covers the FinOps Certified FOCUS Analyst course.

4) FinOps certified FOCUS analyst

FOCUS –FinOps Open Cost and Usage Specification- is a fairly new specification, which was implemented by the FinOps Foundation recently.

 Its main goal is to simplify interactions with cloud vendors by creating a standardized billing format across various platforms with the intention of reducing complexities in cloud cost management.

Interactive training modules with written content and videos, and 12 months of access to online course materials are provided with the FinOps certified FOCUS analyst course.

  • The course costs $400 USD
  • Takes approximately 3-4 hours to complete
  • The FinOps certified FOCUS analyst certificate stays valid for 24 months after passing the exam.

This certification is considered one of the more advanced ones in the FinOps field as it helps learners leverage FOCUS queries in the FinOps Use Case Library to solve real-world business challenges. Along with applying FOCUS conformed datasets to perform Use cases.

The FinOps for AI is mainly designed towards those who want to apply the FinOps Framework to understand, manage, and optimize AI spend.

Learners will develop strategies for resourceful cost allocation and chargeback models specific to AI systems, which can, depending on the scenario,o differ from traditional cloud services.

  • The course itself costs $500 USD.
  • Immediate access to an introduction to FinOps for AI.
  •  Access to FinOps trained: levels 1, 2, and 3 content as soon as they become available.
  • Access to the FinOps for AI exam as soon as it becomes available. (March 2026) 
  • The FinOps for AI certificate stays valid for 24 months after passing the exam.

6) FinOps for containers (FFC)

This training course provides in-depth introductory information about FinOps, targeted towards engineers. It helps you apply cost-conscious decisions and operations in containerized environments, along with the identification of sources of wasted costs, observability, and handling idle and shared elements in such scenarios.

All these important skills will help you communicate better with collaborators, increasing cost-effectiveness and cost-waste management. 

FFC course details

Interactive training modules with written content and videos, and 12 months of access to online course materials are provided with the FinOps for containers course.

  • Cost is $250 USD.
  • Approximate time to complete is around 2-3 hours.

Important note: this course is not a certification, and upon completion, you will not be certified in “FinOps for containers” as there is no such certification. This is simply a course where candidates will walk away with crucial skills and knowledge of relevant tools that will aid their cost analysis process.

To be a certified candidate will need to complete one of the following certifications: FinOps Certified Practitioner, FinOps Certified Engineer, FinOps Certified Professional, or FinOps Certified FOCUS Analyst.

7) FinOps Personas – Finance Training (FPT)

Unlike most FinOps certifications, the FinOps Personas – Finance Training is designed towards finance professional, analysts, financial planners, financial business managers, etc. 

The course teaches you how to Work with the FinOps teams and understand each of the FinOps personas better.

  • 12 months of unrestricted course content
  • The FinOps Personas – Finance Training certificate stays valid for 24 months after passing the exam.

It should be noted that upon completion of any course provided by the FinOps foundation, you will receive a digital Credly badge with the “certified” tag relevant to your certification, except for the FinOps for containers training course, where instead it will show “Trained”.
